Photoshoot one portraits
Take 5-10 photographs of your classmates using the Manual Setting on a DSLR. The object of this task is to introduce you to DSLR photography and the manual setting. Make sure your images are correctly exposed (not too light/dark) and the subject is in focus.
EXTRA PHOTO-SHOOT
The flowing photos consist a variation of different tasks set out by the teacher. this was to help us to get familiar with the process of taking good photos with different settings. I have also added a black and white affect to match my theme.
This image was taken in the spur of the moment. everyday I walk past docklands to get to school and this is the view I see everyday. this picture is not like the others I take. the view captured my eye as the clouds started to look like a baby pink. I noticed the trees were losing there leafs, the water was no longer rippling like it usually does, the atmosphere was silent and still. this is what caught my. the busy city in the background of the photo while the beauty of nature and wilderness surrounds the picture. the second image was taken further down surrey docklands where the boats park.
Organic form
Take 10 initial photographs responding to the theme of 'Organic Form'.
this picture was taken at Dungeness beach. I took a picture of the rocks as it is an organic form and there are millions of rocks.
taken by the London eye it captures the green around us. I like this picture because the main colours you see are green.
picture was taken right outside of CTK the sun was glistening upon the plant so I took the picture.
this by far is my favourite picture. shows a pink sunset going down below the trees. its just beauty captured all in one.

This picture was also taken at Dungeness but instead of zooming into the rocks I decided to get the beautiful landscape.
this was a canal by my house the connects to the river Thames. the moss covers the water making it all look green. this is also the habitat for the local ducks
picture was taken in Leicester while I was on a hike. I was able to overlook the whole stream (also where volvic water comes from).
this was taken at the top of stave hill during my morning jog. the cloud aren't dispersed instead they form one in a line.

Designated task
This picture was meant to make Alisha blurred at the front and the background in focus. it went wrong because I wasn't able to adjust the camera properly. the aperture wasn't large enough.
Take a crisp photography of a quick action (running, jumping...)The subject should not be blurred.
|
Take a crisp portrait of one of your group Include other group members blurred in the background

personal pieces
You could create 1 still life and experiment with 16+ shots/angles, or you could produce multiple still lifes.
Think about your composition, exposure, depth-of-field and lighting.
Think about what the items you include say about you, your life, and the society in which we live.

the main items in my bag where bottles of perfume a bottle of water and a pack of cards. these are very random objects but very crucial to carry. its more of a lady thing to carry perfume and water for hydration. this can relate to my theme as everyday objects.
David Hockney
date: 1985 medium: lithograph
David hockney is a photographer that collage's his work using Photoshop. His work is more of a pop art movement as the pictures he takes are modern and up to date. My initial thoughts were positive as I thought his work was unique for the way he pieced the work together making the shape of the actual image abstract and complex.
The background colours he uses are subtle and calm he uses baby colours like lime myrtle green and blush pink. His pictures my have some similarities but the textures differ in every picture. The XVI RIP Arles gives of a warm soft texture.

Peter Beard
peter beard is an American artist, photographer, writer and diarist who takes pictures and explores Africa in its simplest beauty. Peter uses photography, ink, and blood to create his images and make them stand out. Despite beards patriotic white background he defied the odds and decided to explore animals and women of Africa. My reaction was that he is a inspirational man that uses images and artworks to describe Africa as well as writing articles. Beards work has a small portion of symmetrical images analysing the image above it shows to people hanging a crocodile this is obviously to do with survival. It is then reflected into the lake. the forms of lines are very basic triangular, circular and straight lines. The outlines around his images are really abstract and different each time. Not only does he portray Africa in a positive way he scientifically leaves DNA of Africa (e.g. blood) in the image.

William Eugene Smith
William Eugene Smith, was an American photojournalist who captured the things most people didn’t want to see but had to see. His images were known for being extraordinary and graphic. Eugene put himself in danger just to capture the reality of the world. He attending the Japanese war and many more life threatening things. I thought that this was a brave act of Eugene to capture the things that people usually turn a blind eye to. The colours Eugene uses are all black and what this plays a part in what time he was around. Around middle 1900. when taking pictures he focuses on one main thing but manages to capture a whole lot. The picture above is of a girl named tomoko who caught the minimata disease a cause of the pollution. All though he captured one thing you are able to look at the form and analyse the patterns which are basic and straight forward lines excluding their bodies.

Initial Proposal
I would like to shoot pictures of everyday London. The things that people don’t see around them. For example someone who gives out newspapers every day to members of the public. No one notices the strains and struggles they go through as well as homeless people. I’m hoping to show that there is more to it than meets the eye. I would like people to be aware of the high rate of homelessness and unemployment. My main inspiration is the Syrian crisis, as it’s a huge problem leaving thousands of innocent people wounded and homeless. I am also inspired by William w. smith as he captures the things people do not like to see but need to see, to open their eyes. I will need a canon camera in addition to that I will have to scope around London looking for inspirational things. I have an idea of going round south bank to capture it. There could be people that don’t want me to take a picture of them so I will have to ask for permission. I think it will be better if I make a letter and print out showing that I have their permission to take pictures.
Photo-shoot 5 -Final Induction Photographs
this is central London Westminster underground. central London is where tourists from all over the world visit. this side of London is considered to be clean and friendly. what people don't know is the amount of homeless and poor people around that sight because they are blinded by all the monuments. when I went to Germany I was fortunate to stay in berlin Germanys city. I caught something at the side of my eye and noticed a homeless man sitting outside the tourist attraction he was then shooed away by the police. this was to make the country/city look clean and positive. who are we to blame? THE GOVERNMENT.
This is what tourist see, a beautiful view with complex architecture making them believe this is a great country with great ethics.
Again they see a breathtaking building with complex architecture and grand style yet they do not know that's where all our laws and regulations are passed. this building itself represents the government so it has to look nice.
Assignment briefs
I have to explore and investigate the theme ‘Habitat/Sense of Place’ to produce creative PHOTOGRAPHIC outcomes. The theme should be seen as a starting point and I would have to explore appropriate primary and secondary sources and contextual material to back up my investigation.
Your 2-3 chosen starting points and why you have chosen them.
LONELINESS: loneliness is becoming a rising problem within the uk over 8 million people aged over 16 live on there own or are homeless. no one chooses to be alone it. I personally hate being alone as you feel like no one is there for you. I hope to learn the secret to not being lonely this also relates to my proposal and the theme of sense of place/ where you live.
NATURE IN THE CITY: the phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth, as opposed to humans or human creations and the city mixed together. this is perfect for London as it is an urban area with some rural areas

Photographer research part 1
Sally Mann
Sally Mann (born 1951) is an American photographer, best known for her large black-and-white photographs—at first of her young children, then later of landscapes suggesting decay and death. Immediate Family is a 1992 photography book by Sally Mann. The book is published by Aperture and contains 65 duotone images. One being the picture of the three children and the girl smoking a cigarette. I personally envy manns work as some of it is gory and unique. The colours are very dull as well so it gives the images a vintage look. Even though most of the pictures are of family you don’t see it through the pictures unless you research it. They all look like professional models especially the girl with the cigarette.
Style research
Street photography, also sometimes called candid photography, is photography conducted for art or enquiry that features unmediated chance encounters and random incidents within public places. here are some artist that evolve their work around street photography ( Allan Dellany, Dylan kasson, Mr Ellis, Phillip Abbott).
Off-Site Shoot
On-Site Shoot
In this task i had to go outside the school building and take pictures around the school that related to my theme. The photos mainly consist of plants and buildings relating to my theme 'nature in the city'. the colours are cool consisting of greens and blues. i like the pictures with the silhouette of the trees it made the sky stand out. in future i should focus the camera because i kept thinking the camera will adjust itself for every image. ill try focusing on the plants more and get the city of man made things in the background.
Photo-grams
this was my first time doing a photo gram. here is my step by step instructions on how to do it.
1. Next, lay out your photo paper under the enlarger where the light will shine down.
2.Then arrange your objects onto the paper in any fashion
3.Switch the enlarger on and expose the paper for approximately 2 seconds
4.Once you feel brave and confident place your light sensitive paper in the developer bath for 1 minute
5. when youre happy with the saturation of your image take it out and place it in the stop liquid (this prevents the colour from getting any brighter)
6. Once the paper is dry place in your fix bath for 2 minutes Make sure your paper sits at the bottom of the bath and shake regularly for best outcome.
7. once process is finished dip into a shallow bath of water to rinse of any chemicals and you are done!
I then went onto photoshop and changed the colours of the photogram colours to show my understanding of changing the colour of an image.

Image Manipulation
I Produced a high-contrast image using the LEVELS tool
i Applied a cross-process effect to an image using the preset on the CURVES tool
i Produced a TINTED black & white image using the BLACK & WHITE tool
i Used the COLOUR HALFTONE tool to give your photograph a printed aesthetic
i Created a black & white negative image using the INVERT tool and HUE/SATURATION tool
i Used the CALCULATIONS tool to produce a high-contrast black & white image.
i Created a multi-layered abstraction image by Duplicating the background layer and Creating a translucent OVERLAY layer using the new layer.
i Applied a blur to the edge of the photograph and Selected the elliptical marquee tool then Added a 100pt feather in the main dialogue box.
i Used the square marquee tool to apply a mezzotint effectUse the square marquee tool to apply a mezzotint effect
i Produced a multi-layered image using 2 or more of my photographs
in the last task iwas able to apply all of my skills into one phot. i merged these two photots on the left to create the outcome on the right. i then changed the contrast of the image and increased it while making the people in the foreground blurred so make to the trees and sky pop out. i used almost all of the skills the task had given.
